OUR STORY

My (Sarah) very first mission trip was to Costa Rica and I fell in love with this beautiful country. There was something special about it in my heart, and even after I came back I knew I'´d return to Costa Rica one day.

We met in the fall of 2017 at the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) campus in Montana. We were both there to grow, to serve. We immediately became friends, brought together by our common love of art, missions, and Costa Rica.

When I met Gerson, I was so excited to make a friend (who just happened to be a tall dreamy latino) who was from my favorite country. Gerson was happy to make a friend with a girl so beautiful, blonde with blue eyes. ( that is what he says).

Our friendship deepened and developed, in 2018 we lead a worship team in Taiwan and on December 22nd , Gerson took me to the roof of a building the night was clear,  the sky  full of stars, full moon, and from the top of a building watching the city lights, The first kiss, and the first "real date", and we already knew this was the beginning of our forever.

2 months later we transitioned into a long distance relationship. Gerson went to Costa Rica to complete his US visa and I traveled to Scotland for the summer to work with a YWAM base there. On a rainy and cold day in April, I went exploring with my friends. We went to one of the many tiny castles that are scattered about Scotland. I followed up after my friends as we went up the ancient spiral staircase in the castle on a hill. It had an access to the roof that you crawled through via a slippery ladder. I was the last one up. When I poked up my head, I took in the beautiful Scottish landscape, a tall handsome latino, and my friends staring at me....a latino!!? Gerson was there! Standing in Scotland on this castle. I stared at him with my mouth agape. He came to me and began reciting the lyrics to a song that he wrote exactly for that moment. Still trying to take in the fact that he was there, I had no idea was he was saying. When he got down on one knee, I was able to come to my senses just enough to say, YES!

After a 2 year friendship, a 5 month separation, an 11 month engagement, we are excited to begin our forever wherever our adventures take us!
